During the World Congress of Professor Nicolaides Fetal Medicine held in June 2016 in Mallorca, the renowned Geneticist Dr. Francesca Grati, stressed the importance of choosing a cfDNA test based on its’ failure rate.
In her lecture, the Geneticist highlighted that the selection of the appropriate cfDNA test should be done after monitoring the failure rates of each test. A test with high failure rates due to technical reasons, indicates technical incompetence and cannot be trusted to detect abnormal pregnancies.
Indeed, this statement was confirmed in a subsequent speech by a group of Italian researchers that used a test and had cfDNA failure rate of 3.9%. When they analyzed the failure rates that were due to limitation of the technology that was used, they revealed that 40% of the samples that had failed belonged to fetuses with chromosomal abnormalities!
Some of their slides are presented below.
In the case of the cfDNA tests offered by Safembryo in exclusive partnership with Sequenom laboratories, the global failure rate of all our tests is ~ 1.5% of which less than 0.8% have failed for technical reasons
More particularly in our territory, we would like to state responsibly that over the past two years of the operation of Safembryo we have not had a single failure! Therefore 100% success rate!
